Changes in 1.2.1:

What's new:

Groupware (Kolab1, Citadel)
- Aethera can use even empty Shared Folders (Kolab1 compatibility).
- The jabber chat logs can be saved in Notes Shared Folders (Kolab1 compatibility)

General
- Sound support for notifications, you can use the autodetect mode or just choose your player.
  Sound support can be disabled if you want to hear only your music :).
- More translations available (Greek support in progress). The current supported languages are French, German, Russian and Portuguese (BR).

tkJabberPro
- The notification system has been improved and you will get notifications as popup messages, as sounds or as status bar messages depending on the situation.
  Now it's more comfortable to know about your new instant messages from your contacts or file transfer status.
- Now it comes with a system tray support (Linux only) which works very well with the new notification system.
- Better support for unicode, so that you can communicate with friends all over the world.
- The management of chat logs has been improved with a search mechanism and with groupware support.
  There is a new search line which let you see only the needed chat logs.
  The groupware support (Kolab1 compatible) helps you to store your chat logs on the server for sharing it with other people or just to have your important data available from different location.
- The chat list view has alternative background color for a better visibility.
- You can send/request authorization when you need. Adding a new contact will manage the authorizations automaticaly. The layout for authorization dialog has been fixed.

Improvements and fixes:

Datebook
- ICAL format support has some fixes.
- The automaticaly saving options works now.
- The sound option for events alarm works now. It is using the new sound support.
- Removing a calendar with Delete key isn't possible anymore.

Addressbook
- VCARD support is reading/importing both VCARD2 and VCARD3 data format and it exports data only in VCARD3 format. In this way more people will be able to import their old contacts in Aethera.
  The support for phone field is fixed (even as a SIP type).
  The Kolab support is better too.
- The contacts view list is using alternative background for a better visibility.

Windows support
- The ability to view/open attachments or the help files in Windows XP (SP1, SP2) is fixed.

Groupware
- We have added support for Citadel servers which are compatible with Kolab Version 1.
- Citadel is a full featured, high performance, open source groupware and messaging platform. �It is fully compatible with Aethera and extremely easy to install.
  Citadel server already has a number of optimizations for Aethera, which we will continue to expand upon.
  You can get a full groupware solution in one hour (including the Citadel and Aethera installations).

- The overall support for Kolab/Citadel has been improved, including the support for Shared Folders.
  The Kolab/Citadel folders from NotesBook, AddressBook and DateBook are created automatically now.
  Working with Kolab/Citadel Shared Folders is very simple and straight forward.
- "Drag 'n Drop" and Cut/Copy/Paste operations work with any number of Kolab objects (notes, contacts) which makes the Kolab data management very easy.

SSL support
- Aethera can use SSL and TLS connections for all email protocols.
- We have added SSL certificates support for more secure connections.
- Significant optimizations have also been done.

General
- You can choose an external 'File Manager' or 'Browser' if Aethera didn't use the right one.
- There is support for Russian language now.
  The current supported languages are French, German and Russian.

Improvements and fixes:

Mail
- All the account wizard pages have been changed for easier configuration and for the new SSL features.
- The problem with empty (or not saved password is fixed)
- the IMAP queue has a number of fixes so that DnD or Cut/Copy/Paste operations work correctly even with many emails
- Improved IMAP synchronization
- Improved MIME support
- Groupware (Kolab/Citadel related folders are showed colored in red to be more visible and user operations are limited for those folders.
- IMAP folders management is better, it works correctly even with a large number of folders.
- Fixes for UI
- No more crashes when you are downloading emails and changing the accounts settings in the same time.

AddressBook
- The addressbook view shows only unique (by name and email address) contacts
- UI fixes and better Kolab support (Kolab folders are protected, register/unregister automatically of Shared Folders)

General
- VFS has dramatic performance improvements when it creates/deletes many folders.
- The settings and password dialogs have some fixes.
- All the known crashes are fixed and other small fixes which can be seen in the CVS logs.
- We are trying to fix all the reported bugs between releases. The missing features or not fixed problems can be seen in our bug report system.

What's new:

Mac OSX support
- It was important for us to have Aethera running almost everywhere and we have added full support for Mac OSX (Panther) platform.
- Starting with this release Aethera will be available for Linux, Windows and Mac OSX.
- Our commercial plugins tkJabberPro and tkWhiteboard are available for all the platforms too.

Kolab (Groupware)
- We have extended our Kolab support with an important feature, 'Shared Folders'.
- Also the overall Kolab support is better because some problems were fixed (Kolab private folders are created automaticaly) and Aethera is more responsive.

IMAP
- IMAP has support for Unicode folder names using UTF7 encoding now.
- It has the reported bugs fixed and it should be a bit quicker.

Printing
- The notes can be printed selecting 'Print' from mouse right click menu.
- The contacts (from AddressBook) can be printed selecting 'Print' from mouse right click menu.
- The emails can be printed selecting 'Print' from mouse right click menu.
- You can print almost all the types of objects from Aethera now.

Email
- You can send a note directly from Notes, just select 'Send by email' from mouse right click menu.
- You can use an address from email header view for sending an email to it with a mose left click on the address link.
- There is a search feature in the mails list view, you can search in all the emails from the current folder using different email fields (Subject, From and Body).
- When you are editing a new email, you can add all the addresses from a contacts folder to the email fields. Keeping the contacts grouped in many forlders will help you to fill easily the email fields.

Translations
- We have got some help in translating Aethera for different languages (French, German).
- We are trying to improve the translation support in the future releases.
- Thanks to all who donate their time for helping to Aethera translation support.

Improvements and fixes:

tkcSSL
- Our SSL support has vastly improved performance for downloading/uploading large amounts of data as well as improved features such as a better DNS algorithm and support for IPv6.
- Certificate management is in progress, but not yet available.

SMTP
- There are more authenticate modes available.
- It has few fixes, it should work with more server types.

Windows
- We have optimized Aethera for Windows, it has a better speed and memory usage.
- And there are not more crashes related to limited GUI resources.

Bug fixes
- We are trying (as usual) to fix all the reported bugs between releases.
- Thanks to all the people who reported bugs and even helped us to fix them.

tkPhone plugin
- Our VoIP application is available as Aethera plugin too.
- The contacts with SIP field will be used to call.

Support for Kolab groupware server
- You can create a Kolab account from Settings (see Mail->Accounts).
  It will create special folders in DateBook, AddressBook and NoteBook plugins for managing the server data.
- You can have many kolab accounts.
- Help main page has a new menu entry for Groupware which explains how to use Kolab synchronization.

DateBook (KOrganizer) plugin is fully integrated

Mail plugin
- Downloading/Loading the emails is faster.
- The composer has the bugs fixed.
- The email attachment can be opened for viewing.
- The import emails mechanism is a lot better so that you can quickly import big amounts of emails and it has Mailbox, Outlook and Eudora (new) support.
- IMAP support was tested with imap, Courier and Cyrus servers.
- SMTP support has small fixes and a better feedback.

Folders which has emails can have subfolders too.

Folders shows the number of new messages and the total number of messages.

Sending is using the right account.

Send-Receive Settings
- you can enable/disable the saving of sent emails in your Sent folder.
- you can enable/disable the automaticaly checking for new emails.

Mail Import
- The mail import system is better and an Eudora support is comming soon.

Home:

Two new buttons for hiding/showing the RSS and Weather reports.

The splitter position is saved between the sessions.

The metric option is fixed.

The weather report time is using the local time instead of GMT, more comfortable

Settings
- the URL list widget allows you to move a link up and down so that you can manage the view orde.r
- the weather list is more easy to configure since there is a dialog for ICAO codes instead of web browser searching.

New features in RC2:

General:

Aethera is available for Linux and Windows systems. Both versions have the same features and there are Windows versions of tkJabberPro and tkWhiteboard plugins too.

The operations with many objects (ex: mails) are optimized. You should see that moving big amounts of data doesn't take too long.

Sure, there are bug fixes. We are trying to get the first stable release soon.

Home:

The Home plugin has some new nice features as RSS and Weather reports. You can add many URL-s to RSS pages for browsing quickly the world news. Also you can add many weather stations (ICAO codes) for getting an image about the world weather.

Mails:

The SSL support has been improved and it's working well even in Windows. Thanks to OpenSSL team for their library.

Some bugs from protocols has been fixed, it should work better and with more servers. Also there are some fixes for UI.

The deleted emails are removed from the storage folders too. That operation was disabled but Aethera is more stable now.

New features in RC1:

General:

More settings: application font, toolbar style. Aethera is looking better in KDE now.

There is a new plugin: tkWhiteboard. See plugins page for more informations. All the plugins are better integrated.

E-mail:

The viewer has support for different charsets now.

A better rich text Composer.

A new menu entry for managing the Composer windows. Show/Hide the composer's windows when you need it.

A status bar which shows the download progress and the folder loading.

The SSL support is better (the bugs are fixed).

The SMTP protocol can use Authenticate mechanism (only LOGIN now) and it can use SSL connections.

The IMAP protocol can work with more servers.

You can use DND for moving mails local or remote (via IMAP). It is working in all the directions (from local to local, from local to remote, from remote to local, from remote to remote even for different IMAP accounts).

Notes:

You can set the notes font and the notes are using less memory.

Contacts:

The Addressbook is better, the known bugs were fixed and it is faster. The contacts are using less memory.

DateBook (KOrganizer plugin):

It has VFS support and you can manage the calendar objects very easy. You can import (or export) the ical format files in Aethera.

We are using the latest version of KOrganizer.

tkJabberPro:

It has VFS support and it can manage the chat logging objects very easy.

The chat is automaticaly saved as a new chat object. You can view the chat information later.

tkWhiteboard:

Since it's new, just take a look at the plugins page. It's really nice :)

New features in 0.9.10:

Small bug fixes and a much better UI speed for large data (as mails folders).

The Virtual File System (VFS) has been rewritten for better memory management and flexibility.

Transport protocols rewritten to use Qt functions.

SSL support (as long as openssl libraries are on your system).

First commercial plug in is now available! tkJabber is an embedded Jabber Instant Messaging client that runs inside of Aethera. This is the same Jabber engine used in our tkcJabber product for the Sharp Zaurus which recently won the Trolltech programming contest. There is support for SSL as well and is available for just $9.95. There are free upgrades to the product, and further integration with Aethera will be coming in future releases. A better management of mail lists

A new header view which allows to have more actions for header fields.

Right click will show a menu with Copy action (only this for moment).

A new set of actions in Actions->GoTo menu entry for a better mails browsing. You will notice 2 new arrow buttons for going to the next or previous unread mail.
