How often have you been walking or driving along and you think of something you need to do, or some ground breaking invention, if only you had something to write on. While the Sharp Zaurus has a very nice keyboard, this doesn't do you much good if your hands are busy, and that thought might float away as you take the type to type it up. What better way to record and organize those random bits of brilliance than with a high quality voice recorder. Unlike the voice recorder that comes with the Sharp Zaurus, tkcVox uses advanced technology to allow you to get excellent quality from an incredibly small footprint. tkcVox is a highly optimized voice recorder for embedded linux devices.

Features

IPP optimization routines from Intel for high performance and quality

Uses GMS-AMR codec to provide the highest quality of compressed speech. This is 3rd generation mobile telephony technology used for speech compression. It provides for high quality voice recording (depending on microphone) with a bitrate of 4.75 to 12.2 kbps for 1 hour of continuous speech recording in only 2-5mb of space.

Voice Activity Detection (VAD) and Comfort Noise Generation (CNG) algorithms optimizes the dead space when talking so that it takes almost zero storage space.

It's possible to record approximately 24 hours worth of non-stop speech onto a 128mb storage card.

Optional $4.95 desktop application to convert files from .vox to .wav format so that you can use them anywhere or re-encode them as an MP3 or OGG. Just select from the combo box.
