tkcExplorer User Guide

tkcExplorer is an enhanced file manager with many advanced features. The software allows you to easily navigate through your directories and files, open text files, play MP3/OGGs, launch programs, view jpgs, rename files, add directories, delete files and more!

When you open Explorer you will see a screen similar to this:

My last view in Explorer was a top-level view of my Zaurus with a split-pane view. Clicking on the various folder drills down to the contents. At the top over the tool-bar you will see the path to your current selection. For example I want to see what documents I have in my Documents folder. I would click on home, then root, then Documents in the top pane:


Button Explanations:

Top Bar from left to right:

  1. If you click on this, your view will move up one level.

  2. Will move you back one screen.

  3. Will move you forward one screen.

  4. Create a new directory. When you click this you a small box will pop up. Enter your new directory name here, then click OK in the upper right corner of the pop-up window:



    Once you click OK you will see your new directory (test2):




  5. Show Directory View: Toggles between single/split pane view.

  6. View as Details: Toggles also single/split pane view

  7. View as List:. Toggles also single/split pane view

  8. Quick view icons for Root, CF, SD, Home Dir, Docs and User Defined, customized directories:



    When you Click on the icon, then click on the icon on the bottom, you will this screen:



    Fill in the Title and Path in the bottom boxes:



    Then, click Update and your new rapid navigation icon appears in the list:



    Click on OK in the upper right corner, and your new Icon (the Folder icon named Pictures) will now show up on your icon drop-down:




Bottom Bar icons from left to right:

  1. Cut selected item

  2. Copy selected item

  3. Paste cut or copied item

  4. Delete selected item

  5. Rename selected item

  6. Add selected item to Bookmarks

  7. Bookmark list pop-up. When you select one of the bookmarks, it will take you right to that dir and display it.

  8. Options pop-up. Some Sort and Select options, as well as Show Hidden Files and Show Dirs options.

To open a file from within Explorer:

Click and hold on the file you wish to open, a pop-up menu with options appears:

Open text file:

Open PDF File:

Open MP3/Ogg Files:

To view your Image directory in tkcGallery, click and hold on the directory:

Note: Hold and click on jpeg directory on the bottom pane. If you hold and click on a .jpg file you will get option to Open in Image Viewer (which opens the single .jpg file). TkcGallery will allow you to view your JPEG directory in Gallery, not the individual .jpg files:
